MADHOPS Unveils Summer 2004 Plans
Columbus, OH. November, 2003
- MADHOPS, ltd. announced today that it will be hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and basketball camp for the Summer of 2004, in addition to it's annual 5-on-5 "BigDawg" basketball tournament.
When asked about the new ventures, Pres./CEO Herb Baldwin, Jr. said that the events would uphold the commitment of community involvement in which his company embodies. "I think the summer of 2004 will be a great opportunity for us to get more involved within the community of Central Ohio and at the same time, raise awareness of issues that are important to MADHOPS."
MADHOPS, ltd. plans to hold the 3-on-3 basketball tournament sometime in June 2004 and launch its basketball camp(s) in July. The 3rd annual "BigDawg" Basketball Tournament will be held in August.
The 3-on-3-basketball tournament will be named in honor of Demetrius Tatum. Tatum (20), a co-owner of Tina's Tiny Toons Daycare, was killed in an attempted robbery in May of 2003. Tatum, an avid basketball player, was slated to play in MADHOPS' annual "BigDawg" basketball tournament, this year. Tina's Tiny Toons was an official sponsor of the tournament. Due to an increase of violent crimes, within Central Ohio, Baldwin hopes to partner with local advocates helping to put an end to violence by raising awareness and becoming a beacon of hope for children and young adults. Through the 3-on-3 Basketball tournament, Baldwin hopes to raise money for victims of violent crimes, as well.
The MADHOPS "Skillz and Drillz" basketball camp will be held for children from 3rd to 9th grade. The camp will focus on fundamentals of the game and specialized techniques for each position. The two-week camp will also have two separate sessions - morning (8am - 12pm) and afternoon (1pm - 5pm).
Exact dates, venue and cost will be announced at a later date.
