BET Personality to Particpate in 2nd Annual Tournament

Columbus, Ohio October, 2002 – Mad Hops, ltd. announced that BET Personality Al "HITS" Shearer will participate in the company’s 2nd Annual 5-on-5 Basketball Tournament, next May, at The HOOP Basketball and Fitness Center, in Columbus.

Al Shearer – better known as "HITS" – will participate in The Mad Hops 5-on-5 Basketball Tournament as the Master of Ceremony (MC) for its Slam Dunk Competition, Three-Point Shoot-Out and Championship game. "HITS" may also serve as a celebrity judge for the Slam Dunk Competition, as well.

Mad Hops, ltd. Pres./CEO Herb Baldwin, Jr. is delighted to have "HITS" as a special guest of the "BigDawg" Tournament.

"I’m so excited that "HITS" agreed to be a part of this Tournament." said Baldwin. "It has always been my dream to help grow this tournament into something very special not only for Mad Hops, ltd. but for the city of Columbus, as well. His presence and notoriety, alone, reaffirms that the tournament is a quality exhibition worthy of national recognition."

Al "HITS" Shearer is one of BET’s most recognized faces. As the completely out of his mind side splitting video host HITS, he travels the country engaging in outrageous and hilarious antics between video play. Did he just do that? Did he just say that? Those are the questions you would find yourself asking when you view his program. One day he is playing fashion police at colleges like Florida A&M; the next, he is posing as an inner-city superhero known as "Geto Man." The Howard University graduate and Dayton, Ohio native honed his on-camera skills as a correspondent for the award-winning BET show, Teen Summit – the same show that launched the career of Ananda Lewis. He also served as a radio personality at D.C.’s popular WPGC. "HITS" also co-starred in his film debut movie, How High, starring hip-hop stars, Method Man and Redman. In the movie, "HITS" played the part of a fun-loving, steal anything that isn’t nailed down, freeloader named I Need Money.

During last year’s Tournament, "HITS" pleasantly surprised spectators as he dramatically entered The Hoop facility just as the championship game was ending. After the game, he signed autographs and took pictures with fans, the Tournament Champions and Runner-Up, respectively.
